Job Description

Electromechanical Assembler

Valley Craft has been manufacturing professional-grade material handling and storage equipment in Lake City, Minnesota since 1953, beginning with our introduction of the first hand truck with a brake. Today, we produce one of the most complete lines of industrial steel cabinets in the world, along with the carts, hand trucks, dump systems, lifts, and drum handling equipment relied on by manufacturers, distributors, and job sites world wide. As part of the Ballymore Safety Products family, serving as their Midwest headquarters, we combine the resources of a national organization with the standards and culture of a company that has built its reputation one product at a time.

We offer steady, year-round work, a clean and well-organized production floor, and a genuine commitment to safety. Team members here develop skills that last a career — and put their name on equipment recognized for its quality wherever it's used.

If you take pride in precision work and want to build a long-term career with an established American manufacturer, apply today.

Under the direct supervision of the department supervisor/team lead, the Electromechanical Assembler builds and finishes Valley Craft's powered equipment. You'll bring mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic components together into a finished unit that has been tested, inspected, and is ready to ship. This role is a good fit for someone who enjoys hands-on work, takes pride in getting the details right, and wants to grow beyond general assembly.

What You'll Do

  • Assemble mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic subassemblies and final units from drawings, schematics, and work instructions
  • Mount and wire motors, switches, control boxes, batteries, chargers, and wire harnesses, routing and securing wiring to spec
  • Install hydraulic pumps, cylinders, valves, hoses, and fittings, then torque connections and check for leaks
  • Fit, align, calibrate, and adjust parts and mechanisms to meet close tolerances and strict inspection standards
  • Read and work from blueprints, electrical schematics, and hydraulic diagrams
  • Function-test completed units, including electrical checks and lift/lower cycles, and troubleshoot and correct issues before units move on
  • Use hand and power tools, multimeters, torque wrenches, crimpers, and gauges safely and accurately
  • Pull parts based on product needs and keep your work area clean and organized
  • Maintain product quality standards and support continuous improvement, a customer-first mindset, and strict adherence to our quality processes
  • Keep pace with production expectations and help train new team members
  • Additional duties as needed

Experience

  • 1–3 years of assembly experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably electromechanical, electrical, or hydraulic
  • Ability to read blueprints and basic electrical and hydraulic schematics
  • Comfortable using a multimeter, crimping and terminating wire, and working with hose fittings
  • Knowledge of the metalworking industry, equipment, and processes
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check

Preferred

  • Technical or vocational training in industrial maintenance, electrical, or fluid power/hydraulics
  • Experience building or servicing lifts, material handling equipment, or similar powered equipment
  • Military mechanical or electrical experience is a plus

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to sit, stand, kneel, stoop, walk, or sit for long periods of time.

  • Must be physically capable of lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs.

Benefits

  • Paid Time Off (PTO)
  • Nine (9) paid holidays
  • Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance

  • Friendly, collaborative team environment
  • Opportunities for training, growth, and advancement
